What is EFT?

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It is an alternative therapy that is effective for anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, weight loss issues, chronic pain, stress, and many other problems. By tapping on different parts of the body we can help to balance energy and reduce physical and emotional pain and suffering.


It is also known as psychological acupressure as with acupuncture and acupressure, it involves the body’s energy meridian points or areas of the body through which energy flows, a concept in Chinese medicine. In this theory, blocks or imbalances in the flow of energy lead to dis-ease. Tapping on these meridian points restores the balance of energy to discharge and resolve emotional and physical issues. All emotions serve a purpose. The problem is that sometimes they can get stuck or blocked whether that is due to our need to numb them or sometimes we are simply unable to express them. EFT is both a powerful and gentle way to discharge those stuck, unexpressed emotions and blocked energy.


It can also work in a similar way to mindfulness as it can draw our attention to our body and breathing, serving as a mental distraction from the issues that are causing anxiety or stress. This allows us to become fully present to our lives and all the gifts that are available to each of us, and that is a beautiful place to be
